I love Halloween! I love putting thought into what everyone is going to dress up as and putting it all together and turning it into a great costume. Fortunately the kids do, too! This year has been crazy with everything that is going on in our house, but we managed to get it together (with plenty of help from my sister… thanks Trish!) and the kids were thrilled with their costumes once again.
When we asked Chase what he wanted to be for Halloween, without hesitation he said “a pumpkin.” So as of yesterday (when he got dressed up for his school Halloween party) he has been telling us his name is ‘Jack.’ We will see if that sticks now that he has taken his costume off.

James loved it when all the kids kept asking him what was making him move. It really threw them off that his feet were not on the ground. James definitely got a lot of comments on his costume!

It was a close call, but I would have to say that Annika stole the night! I can’t tell you how many times we heard “That’s the best costume I’ve seen all night!” and she had her picture taken multiple times. (One guy said he was texting it right then to a friend because it was so great!) The people up at the school told me that they decided if there were a costume contest then she definitely would have won.

There was one slight issue with it, however… She couldn’t do stairs very well. (And around here, most houses have stairs leading up to their door.) We kept telling her not to even go up them — to stand at the bottom to yell “Trick or Treat” and of course each time she did that, they went to her to drop the candy in. But every few houses or so, she would make her way up the stairs and slowly feel her way back down with her feet. After about the 25th time that I told her not to even try the stairs because she was going to fall, sure enough! Poor thing looked like she was falling in slow motion, and landed face down stuck in the box with her feet sticking out the other end. After she stopped crying and we all knew she would survive, I couldn’t help but laugh at the image. Shhh… don’t tell her that!
I dressed up as a good witch and Justin dressed up as the same thing that he does every year, Bronco Mendenhall (or whomever BYU’s head coach is at the time,) by wearing his BYU attire. The kids have decided that he celebrates Halloween many, many times throughout the year if that’s his idea of a costume.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!
